'DIVE!' album news, stories, and info

Updated: Mar 21

'DIVE!', Space Angel's second album, will be released on 5 June 2025.

Like debut album 'You Are Next', each of the 13 songs features a live performance by the band, recorded in a single take at Brighton Road Recording Studios before Christmas 2024.

Around these authentic band performances, producer (and singer/guitarist) christopher rye has spun a sonic world of vocals, harmonies, guitars, and ambient keys in his studio on Brighton seafront, to create an album that is a richer, more polished set than the band's debut.

'DIVE!' features original songs by christopher, and by bandmates Allan Wiseman (bass, vocals, second guitar) and Alfonso Cavassa (piano, synths, vocals), alongside the crisp, minimal drumming of Fabio Sclafani.

Tracks include alt rocker 'Something on the Motorway', Floydian opener 'Conquistador', piano ballad 'I Could Be Loved', ambient epics 'There' and '(Looks Like) Angels', live favourites 'Sometimes the Sea Wants the City' and 'Forgiving is Easy', sinister rockers 'The Wolves of Reigate' and 'In This World', and much more.

DID YOU KNOW: • Album title 'DIVE!' was suggested by singer/songwriter Jordan Rakei at an instore at Resident in Brighton. christopher challenged Jordan to come up with a random title for a project. In response, Jordan scribbled the word 'DIVE!' on the cover of his own album. • Meanwhile, the cover image is a digital painting and collage by christopher based on an original photo by Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, who shared the original on X and said people were free to use it, with a credit. Thanks, Tim! We hope you like what we have done with it.

And thanks Jordan for your amazing contribution. The album is dedicated to you both.

• In the run-up to the June release, the band will be releasing three double-A singles, with videos for each. More short films will follow throughout the year – and some live shows!
